Avon

An artistic, cultural hub with everything under the sun and snow.

Welcome to Avon, CO

An artistic, cultural hub with everything under the sun and snow

Nestled in the Eagle River Valley is Avon, the gateway to Beaver Creek Resort. Avon is the perfect place for the kind of vibrant experiences the Rocky Mountains embody. Avon’s modern cabin and lodging-style architecture feel right at home in the mountains. Being in the heart of the valley makes Avon a wonderful launching pad for skiing, hiking, paddling, and other inspiring mountain adventures all year-round.

During the summer, Avon boasts plenty of festivals, events and expos. If you enjoy the artsy side of life, the bronze sculpture collection and Art Around Avon installations are deeply appealing to locals and tourists alike. Those are only two of the signature events in Avon that are not to be missed.

The Avon community is host to a thrilling array of social events, like concerts, art festivals and races, and a multitude of recreational opportunities, special events, parks, open spaces, and trails. There is a great mix of local shops, bars, and restaurants all around town. Nottingham Park offers summer activities for all like boating, fishing, walking, riding or relaxing, and catching a movie in the park. Celebrate the Fourth of July with Salute to the USA, which is the largest fireworks display in the Rockies.

During the winter, Avon really shines! Avon offers incredible centralized access to snow sports. The Gondola Express shuttle bus goes directly to the Avon Station, which allows riders to reach the Riverfront Express high-speed gondola into Beaver Creek Resort.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Locals know and love the Westin, a combination restaurant/bar/condo complex with a membership option for enjoying the variety of amenities. If you’re new to the area, you may want to check out Hygge Life, a cafe and brick-and-mortar shop with a collection of Norwegian and European home decor. The legendary Gorsuch, founded over 50 years ago, is only a stone’s throw away at Beaver Creek, so enjoy this luxurious, resort-style ski-and-sea fashion hub. After a busy day in town or on the slopes, be sure to check out Vin 48, the wine bar and restaurant that offers modern mountain cuisine and has been a local favorite since 2007.

Things to Do

For a yearly event celebrating fine visual arts, handcrafted goods, and artists who represent a wide range of skills, from printmaking and photography to ceramic and woodworking, check out the Avon Art Festival. The Harry A. Nottingham Park offers a free outdoor Lakeside Cinema. If you head over before the movie starts, be sure to stroll through the park and check out the public musical instruments near the Rec Center.

The aforementioned Avon Recreation Center offers plenty of activities and facilities like a fitness center, yoga studio, and a five-lane lap pool. Avon’s various offerings are incredibly family-friendly, including the Flynn Creek Circus, which features aerial performance acts on ropes and trapezes. Who doesn’t love the circus?
